Health Common Good – First Team Volunteering mobility in Bucharest, Romania

Between 29th of February and 31st of March we carried out our first mobility in Health Common Good project! During this period, A.C.T.O.R. hosted 10 volunteers from Greece, Italy and different parts of Romania.

The volunteers participated in various activities throughout the month, the most important one being to create clinical animation experiences for children and adults with disabilities in social centers (Centrul de zi “Neghinita”, Centrul de zi “Harap-Alb”, Asociatia “Alternativa” etc.). They also had the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience in some tool fairs, to help in building a sensorial area for children with visual impairment and to interact with our long-term volunteers.

Each week had a different series of activities and new opportunities to learn.

The first week was dedicated to building the team through games and to the preparation for the following activities on both theoretical and practical levels. They were provided with trainings on how to approach children and adults with disabilities as well as workshops about what activities and materials were recommended.

The second and third week were mainly about creating and doing animation, crafts and artistic activities for children. During this time, we have also offered our volunteers the opportunity to share their valuable knowledge and experience in working with children. Niki from Greece carried out a workshop about how to create a puppet out of a sock and other materials and how to teach children about non-violent communication. Emerance and Ana, two of our long-term volunteers had a training about how to create a shadow theater performance.

During the last week we focused on the final evaluation of the whole project, the volunteers’ reflection upon what they learned throughout the entire month and on ways to improve our next mobility.

Lastly, we told eachother a warm “Goodbye”, in hopes that our paths will cross again in the future! 🙂
