Alternativa 2003 is an A.C.T.O.R. local partner working for youth and adults with disabilities. But this place and all the people hosted there hide a lot of secrets you need to discover by yourself.
I would say that those are indeed adults but at the same time they have a child heart. I feel through them a lot of kindness and a kind of carefreeness. Each time we came, we saw the joy they can feel when they notice us. It motivates us a lot to do our best.
Since the beginning of my volunteering (mid of January), this was one of the only centers which left the door open for us during the COVID-19 crisis. Thanks to this, we came every week and we began to get to know each other well. We adapted our routines to their preferences and what they told us they preferred.
Firstly, we take a long time to dance together and enjoy with them. It is an in intense moment, we all share our own energy which become a flow we will follow. We let our fears and our prejudices out to enjoy together.
Then, we come one after another workshop. From painting to drawing and gluing, we try together to create some pictures where each of us can add his/her own part for the work. This was the purpose we wanted to fulfil when we did the hand-made dinosaurs in front of a volcanic set.
Thereafter, we keep on dancing, and at the end, we create a circle for the moment we call relaxation, whose intention is to take care about ourselves. We rub each other and do some stretching, always in a good mood. We know we will see each other the next week. Thank you so much Alternativa ! ❤
