Short-term EVS | Summer 2018

Like every summer, also this year A.C.T.O.R. has a team of Short-Term EVS volunteers. At the moment A.C.T.O.R. is hosting 4 new EVS volunteers here in Bucharest, all of them are from France and they are involved in two different projects, EXPLORE and TAKE OFF, both of them financed by Erasmus Plus and coordinated by a French Organization, Pistes Solidaires.

They are Hugo, Romane, Alyssa and Luc. They are involved in many different activities focusing in sharing cultural diversity by managing clinical animation activities for kids in hospitals and social centers, promoting a volunteer attitude and cooperating with other EVS and local volunteers by using artistic and non-formal tools.

My name is Romane, I’m 17 years old and I’m French. I have always wanted to learn, travel and help people in difficulty. After talking with an association, Pistes Solidaires, that allows young people to travel abroad and learn about other cultures and develop new skills, I was directed to EVS. I registered on the “European Youth Portal” and I was called 4 months later for an EVS proposal in Romania. So I chose the EVS because it’s free and it allowed me to travel and have a first “professional” experience abroad where I will be able to learn a lot of new things.

My name is Hugo, I am 17 and I live in Brest, France. I am volunteer in A.C.T.O.R. during my summer school holidays. I decided to participate in this project because it corresponds to me totally to what I wish to work in the future, because I would like to be a humanitarian worker, in education or social field. I needed a first experience and I did not hesitate in front of this opportunity. It’s very difficult to describe it, even when my friends and my family ask it to me. The usual words that several times I use are: happy, brave, united, enterprising, enthusiast and sometimes irritating. It is the mixture of all these adjectives which makes me to be in EVS today, because I want a better world, it is the first step for me.

Alyssa & Luc – TAKE OFF Project (August 2018)

I’m Alyssa, I’m 19 years old, I come from Angoulême in France. I’ve always wanted to go abroad, discover new cultures, new countries. That’s why when my Local Mission advisor offered me to do an EVS abroad, I jumped right into the opportunity without hesitation. When she introduced me to the various missions, my first choice was to come here, to Bucharest, because I wanted to make myself useful and help children in difficulties. I was really happy when I knew I would come here!

I’m Luc I’m 21 years old and I am from Angoulême, France. I have a diplôme in leather work and I also work as a selman inn a shop for men clothes. I chose to do an EVS because I want to discover other countries and cultures. I find that traveling while making myself useful to kids in difficulty is more rewarding. Moreover, after this experience, if I like it, I think I will do other EVS, but next time longer.

Soon you will know more about our experience, until then, see you! 😉
