Pentru unii oameni, ziua de 27 iulie avea să fie doar o altă zi călduroasă de duminică. Însă pentru noi (mai precis 9 participanţi, un lider de grup şi un trainer) avea să fie începutul unei noi experienţe: urma să participăm la un schimb intercultural de o săptămână în Danemarca.
Odată sosiţi în ţinuturile daneze, ne-am îmbarcat într-un autocar alături de participanţii lituanieni şi finlandezi pentru a ajunge în localitatea Stubbekøbing, unde aveau să se desfăşoare activităţile. La autocar am avut plăcuta surpriză să-l reîntâlnesc pe Richardt, alături de care am lucrat la atelierul de muzică în cadrul unui schimb anterior în Suedia. Ajunşi la destinaţie, am fost întâmpinaţi cu bucurie de grupul danez.
În dimineaţa zilei următoare, după încălzirea condusă de Steve (trainer-ul de dans) şi câteva jocuri de cunoaştere, fiecare participant a avut de ales între patru workshop-uri: dans, muzică, circ şi teatru de păpuşi de stradă. Astfel, unii au învăţat breakdance alături de Steve, cei de la circ au devenit mai îndemânatici învăţând să jongleze, să învârtă farfurii pe beţe şi să facă piramide umane, îndrumaţi de Milan, muzicienii şi-au îmbogăţit cunoştiinţele învăţând să cânte atât la tobe, cât şi vocal-instrumental alături de Andy, iar Eugenia şi-a ghidat participanţii în arta teatrului de păpuşi de stradă.
Atmosfera a fost una plăcută şi prietenoasă, toţi participanţii fiind dornici să socializeze şi să lege noi prietenii (iar faptul că fiecare ţară a dormit în câte o sală de clasă ne-a ajutat să ne apropiem). Mai mult decât atât, programul nu ne-a dat timp să ne plictisim. Cei ce iubesc apa au avut numeroase ocazii să înoate în curatele şi revigorantele ape nordice, cei mai activi s-au distrat la zumba, iar plimbările prin oraş ne-au oferit prilejul să aflăm mai multe despre stilul de viaţă al oamenilor de-acolo.
Săptămâna a fost marcată de câteva momente mai speciale. Unul dintre ele a fost seara interculturală, când am învăţat mai multe despre celelalte ţări participante, am gustat din preparatele lor tradiţionale (şi ei din ale noastre) şi am dansat dansuri specifice. Într-o altă seară o fată din grupul danez a adus un iz de Orient cu o prezentare complexă despre ţara ei de origine, Afghanistan. Aproape de final, a venit o surpriză din partea singurei participante majore a grupului de români, Ioana Macovei, care a luat pentru o zi rolul de lider de grup şi a participat la şedinţa finală, unde trainerii şi liderii de grup dădeau feedback-ul pentru activităţile din timpul schimbului.
“ În calitate de «sursă venită din interior», pot să spun că ne înţelegem minunat. Am remarcat că, în ciuda nivelului de limbă engleză ce diferă de la participant la participant, ne înţelegem unii cu alţii foarte uşor. Datorită entuziasmului general şi încurajărilor ne-am putut descurca bine la spectacole, şi cred că această experienţă i-a ajutat pe mulţi să-şi depăşească anumite temeri; am observat că persoane care la început erau foarte timide au devenit sociabile.”, a spus Ioana.
Ultimele momente, dar nu cele din urmă şi de departe cele mai frumoase, au fost cele 4 spectacole, roadele muncii noastre. Două dintre ele au fost susţinute pe străzile din Stubbekøbing, alte două în Nykøbing. Eforturile noastre au fost foarte bine primite de public (care a fost destul de numeros de fiecare dată) şi am fost aplaudaţi cu entuziasm.
În încheiere, pot să spun că această experienţă a însemnat ceva deosebit pentru fiecare participant. A ajutat vechi prietenii să devină mai puternice, a legat prietenii noi şi a creat amintiri plăcute.

For some people, the 27th of July would have been just another warm Sunday. But for us (more exactly, 9 participants, one group leader and one trainer) it would’ve been the beginning of a new experience: we were going to a one-week intercultural exchange in Denmark.
Once we arrived in the Danish lands, we got on a coach with the Lithuanian and Finnish participants to go to Stubbekøbing, where the activities would have taken place. At the coach, I had the pleasant surprise to meet again Richardt, with who i worked at the music workshop in a previous exchange, in Sweden. Arrived at the destination, we were welcomed with joy by the Danish group.
The next morning, after the warm-up led by Steve (the dance trainer) and some icebreakers, each participant had to choose between four workshops: dance, music, circus and street puppets theatre. Thus, some learned breakdance with Steve, the circus ones became more skilful by learning to juggle, to spin plates on sticks and to make human pyramids, led by Milan, the musicians enriched their knowledge both by learning to play drums and vocal-instrumental singing with Andy, and Eugenia guided her participants in the art of street puppets theatre.
The atmosphere was pleasant and friendly, all participants being eager of socializing and making new friends (and the fact that each country slept in a classroom helped us getting close). More than this, the programme didn’t give us time to get bored. The ones who love water had a lot of chances to swim in the clear and refreshing nordic waters, the active ones enjoyed zumba, and the walks in town gave us the chance to find out more about the lifestyle of the people living there.
During the week, there were some special moments. One of them was the intercultural evening, when we learned more about the other participating countries, we tasted their traditional food (and they tasted ours) and we danced specific dances. In another evening, a girl from the Danish group brought an Eastern touch by a complex presentation about her native country, Afghanistan. Near the end, a surprise came from the only major participant of the Romanian group, Ioana Macovei, who took the role of a group leader for a day and took part in the final meeting, where the trainers and the group leaders gave their feedback for the activities during the exchange.
“ As an «inside source», I can tell that we get on really awesome. I noticed that, despite the English level, which is different from participant to participant, we understand each other really easy. Thanks to the general enthusiasm and the encouragements we could do our best at the shows, and I think this experience helped a lot of people to overcome some fears; I noticed that persons who were very shy in the beginning have become social.”, said Ioana.
The last moments, but not the least and the most beautiful from far, were the 4 shows, the “fruits” of our labor. Two of them took place on Stubbekøbing’s streets, and the other two in Nykøbing. Our efforts were very well accepted by the public (which was pretty numerous each time) and we got some enthusiastic claps.
In the end, I can say that this experience meant something special for each participant. It helped old friendships become stronger, built new friendships and created awesome memories.
